Vincent Kompany’s men performed well in the first-half and were unfortunate to find themselves a goal behind at the interval.
However, they struggled a little during the second period and Genk made them pay with a second late on.
Despite that, it was a good workout for the Clarets against tough opposition, with their Belgian opponents in Champions League qualifying action on Tuesday.
Here we take a look at how Burnley’s players performed during last night’s encounter...
5. Jordan Beyer - 7/10
Booked for a late foul late on in the first-half, which is unusual for a friendly. But made some key blocks. Photo: Gareth Copley
6. Charlie Taylor - 6/10
Solid. Gave nothing away and neat and tidy in possession. Made an important block to deny Genk a second. Photo: Gareth Copley
7. Josh Brownhill - 7/10
Came close with a close-range effort that was well blocked following a late run into the box. Playing the full 90 will do him good. Photo: Stu Forster
8. Josh Cullen - 7/10
Battled well in the middle of the week in his usual tenacious manner. Conceded a few niggly fouls. Photo: Gareth Copley
