Vincent Kompany’s men performed well in the first-half and were unfortunate to find themselves a goal behind at the interval.
However, they struggled a little during the second period and Genk made them pay with a second late on.
Despite that, it was a good workout for the Clarets against tough opposition, with their Belgian opponents in Champions League qualifying action on Tuesday.
Here we take a look at how Burnley’s players performed during last night’s encounter...
13. SUB: Andros Townsend - 6/10
For Vitinho, 60 Got a useful half an hour or so under his belt on his outing as a trialist. Not involved hugely, although he did play a couple of clever balls down the right flank. Didn't look overly rusty either on his return from injury. Photo: Alex Livesey
14. SUB: Zeki Amdouni - 6/10
For Twine, 76 Didn't see a great deal of the ball of the debutant during his 15-minute cameo but pressed well from the front. Should feature more in the upcoming friendlies. Photo: Burnley FC
15. SUB: Wout Weghorst - 6/10
Held the ball up well on a couple of occasions but similarly to the other two subs, didn't really get much of a chance to showcase his talents. Received a mixed receptions from the away fans when he came on. Photo: Alex Livesey
