And Dyche was proud of the framework and structure to the side that negated Dougie Freedman’s Trotters, particularly in the second half.

“I’m very pleased, overall I thought we did enough to win the game,” Dyche said. “We kept their chances low, with regards our keeper being inactive, and created enough chances. We looked solid throughout.

“I thought Bolton were a decent side tonight - they haven’t lost a lot here. This is a tough place to come so I absolutely value the three points. It was a tight affair, we both tried to play, but we edged it. A 1-0 in my view is as powerful as a 5-0.

“I was a bit annoyed with the players. Our framework and our shape to the team wasn’t as good as it normally is. Credit to Bolton for making that happen. But we were much better in the second half and I thought we played some good football that affected the game in a much more positive manner. We looked resilient, never looked in

trouble and defended our 18 yard box very well. A clean sheet is great.”
