The New Zealander has found the net six times in his last seven appearances against the Hammers in the Premier League.

And the Clarets have gone on to win in three of the five games in which he's scored, which has seen Sean Dyche's side pick up seven points from three of those fixtures at Turf Moor.

Should that form continue, with the 29-year-old adding to the 10 goals already scored this season, he feels the club will have done enough to sew up a sixth successive season in the top flight.

Burnley head into the weekend with a nine-point advantage over 18th place Fulham with just five games of the campaign remaining.

“We have made it hard work for everybody else, especially the ones right down at the bottom, and that’s what we need to do,” said Wood, who is now Burnley’s all-time leading scorer in the Premier League.

“Another win will do it and then we go from there."

The Kiwi striker heads into Bank Holiday Mondays clash in scintillating form having scored six times in as many games, including a first half hat-trick against Wolves at Molineux.

His treble was the fourth of his career and first since he scored three times for Leicester City in a League Cup tie at Carlisle United in August, 2013.

Wood described the feat as one of the best days of his life as Burnley went on to record their biggest win in the top flight since 1965.

After Ashley Westwood beat Rui Patricio for a fourth time late on, Wood said: “It’s been one of the best days of my life. It really has.

“It’s amazing. It’s something I’ve always wanted in my career. It’s nice to finally happen.

“It’s been a long time coming. I’m 29 years old now and I’m over the moon it’s finally come, which is nice."

Wood, who has now hit double figures in the top-flight in each of his four seasons for the Clarets, added: “It’s been a tough season, there’s no getting away from it, for me as a striker and the other strikers as well.

“Speaking for myself, it’s been tough. We didn’t have the first six months of the season we wanted and we knew we had to dig in and fight.

“I’m glad that all the strikeforce has come into the fold now and the goals have been coming for everybody.”
