Burnley boxer Connor secures quick knockout

SANDYGATE Amateur Boxing Club ended the ABA boxing season in style at the weekend when its latest of the conveyor-belt of pugilists made their debut.

Burnley’s Connor ‘Big-Con’ Shaw (11) pitted his wits against A.Cunninghem (Tameside ABC) in a cracking bout of skill which didn’t last the distance. Straight from the opening bell Berkley Estate’s Shaw made his mark with his long reach proving fatal, keeping to the game plan and scoring shots with ease. The second round only lasted 30 seconds as Shaw’s barrage of jab, back-hand combinations hit the target every time with the man-in-the-middle having no choice but to stop the contest.

Coach Nik Tucker was impressed with young Connor’s performance: “Wow what a first time in the squared circle for ‘Big Con’ he did everything and more.”
