“It’s a credit to the staff who have helped to make this happen,” said Terry who runs The Swan and Royal with wife Carol.

The couple will be presented with their trophy and certificate in due course, but can toast their success now.

Runner-up in the competition was Clitheroe’s Buck Inn in Lowergate. The other bars which made it into the top five, and which will all receive a certificate, were The Waggon and Horses and The Black Horse Inn, both in Pimlico Road, and The New Inn, in Parson Lane.

Clitheroe Advertiser and Times readers were asked to vote for their favourite bar by sending a text or filling in a coupon which both had to be received by November 26th.
