Question Time comes to Burnley

POLITICAL debating programme Question Time will be broadcast from Burnley tonight.

The popular BBC programme which features a panel of guests from varying backgrounds will see Clarets central defender Clarke Carlisle as well as Burnley fan Alastair Campbell, Tony Blair’s former press secretary, taking questions.

Chaired by David Dimbleby, others guests answering questions from the public will be controversial former MP George Galloway, Liberal Democrat deputy leader Simon Hughes and Conservative Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman.

The BBC One show is recorded earlier in the evening at a venue which is only being made known to audience members before going out at 10-30 p.m.

It is believed Clarke Carlisle will be the first footballer to appear on Question Time – although it is not his first television appearance – the bright defender appeared and won on Channel Four’s Countdown last year.

Mr Campbell is well known as a fanatical Clarets fan, but is better known as being Tony Blair’s chief spin doctor during his years as Prime Minister.

Question Time has been broadcast from Burnley once before, shortly after the disturbances of 2001.
