Pendle Leisure Trust is fighting for its future as it seeks financial support to help survive the Covid pandemic.

The leisure provider has seen many income streams disrupted, and its reserves heavily hit, during a demanding 2020.

Bosses at the charitable organisation said it now needed the support of members and loyal customers more than ever to ensure it can keep its doors open in the future.

Two anonymous donations from kind-hearted customers have set the financial ball rolling.

Envelopes containing cash and hand-written notes arrived in the post at Pendle Wavelengths in Nelson and The Muni Theatre in Colne.

The notes read: "This is a donation to help with what you have lost. I have been using the Trust’s facilities a long time."

Alison Goode, chief executive of Pendle Leisure Trust, said: “What lovely gestures! We were really surprised to receive the donations – but so touched to know we are really appreciated.

“Donations and kind gestures like this are what we need right now to help keep our services and facilities operating.

The Trust is a charitable organisation that exists for the benefit of the local community, but this is an extremely trying time with all our facilities and services affected by the disruption of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Last year we had almost 700,000 visitors to our facilities, which shows just how important the Trust is to the people of Pendle.

“As a not for profit organisation, every pound spent with us is invested back into the facilities and activities we run. Last year, every pound invested provided a social return on investment of £22.37.

“With all our centres currently closed due to the Government’s new national restrictions in England, we have a very limited income coming in, so we would welcome any financial support – from individuals who want to contribute to the facilities that are so important to them, to businesses or any benefactors willing to donate.

“I understand this is a very difficult time for everyone, but any help offered will be greatly appreciated.”

Donations can be made through www.pendleleisuretrust.co.uk/donate/ and will solely contribute towards The Trust’s continued provision of well-being for Pendle’s residents, whether it’s through healthier lifestyles, socialising or fitness.
