Reedley Primary School pupil Aminah received the Sue Dean Writing Award after her teacher Kirsty Child recognised the effort that she had put into her writing during the lockdown.

Aminah completed every learning task that she was asked to do and included all the skills that were modelled in the teaching videos by her teachers.

She edited her writing to make it the best that it could be and Miss Child really enjoyed listening to her read her stories - her favourite was The Bee and the Worm, an adaptation of The Hare and the Tortoise.

Miss Child said: "Aminah's dad was very proud of her when she received the award which only goes to one person in the whole school each half term, and we have around 420 pupils.

"Aminah was also incredibly proud of her achievements and she had a huge smile when she received the award in our Zoom assembly. Her trophy now has pride of place in her classroom."

The writing award is named after Sue Dean, a Lancashire English Consultants who sadly died. She was passionate about writing and inspiring children to get the best out of their education.
