Meet the talented Colne seamstress who created 40 foot wedding dress train for Venezuela Fury
The seamstress, who went viral after creating the 40 foot train for Venezuela Fury’s wedding dress, says she is thrilled the experience put a positive spotlight on Colne.
Emily Grant spent 40 plus hours making the stunning lace train for the dress that Tyson Fury’s 16-year-old daughter chose at Colne bridal shop Ava Rose Hamilton.
Emily, a seamstress for 15 years who launched her own business Sew In Love,11 years ago, said: “The number of positive messages I have received has been amazing. It feels lovely that it’s not just myself being recognised but also the town of ‘Bonnie Colne’ in such a positive way.

“ I never expected all the publicity in my wildest dreams.”
The mum of two had to make the train in secret in a church hall as her studio wasn’t large enough to accommodate the amount of fabric required. Laying out the fabric and embroidering the edges was a labour of love for Emily. She added: “Venezuela knew exactly what she wanted and it all came together so beautifully in the end, she looked stunning and I felt honoured I was able to create exactly what she wanted.
“Both Venezuela and her mum Paris were a joy to work with. They were respectful, gracious and took my opinions and advice on board on what would work.”
Emily, who is married to Caleb and mum to Callahan (five) and two-year-old Violet, also made the lace veil and sleeves for the wedding dress. And she was delighted when the bride, who tied the knot with 19-year-old boxer Noah Price, wore sunglasses and ‘crocs’ on her big day in a lavish ceremony in the Isle of Man, where the Fury family now live.

Emily added: “The whole experience was just so fun and fantastic from start to finish and Venezuela looked absolutely amazing. It feels wonderful to be recognised in this way as seamstresses are often overlooked in this process. Yet we play a vital role in making sure every bride’s dream dress is a perfect fit and exactly as they want it.
“It’s also a way of recognising my team of five, this is for them too.”
JJ Hearn-Town, one of the managers at Ava Rose Hamilton, which has customers from across the country, said the shop felt ‘privileged’ that Venezuela chose them to purchase her dream dress from, adding: “It was very special because she had the whole world to choose from and she chose us.”
