Colne mental health group celebrates community fundraising success

A Colne men’s mental health support group has celebrated another successful community session following two major fundraising efforts in support of its work.

Men Talk, a peer support group focused on improving men’s mental health and wellbeing, continues to bring together local residents in a welcoming environment where men can speak openly, reduce isolation and support one another through life’s challenges.

The latest session was marked by the presentation of two fundraising donations raised for Men Talk and its partner initiative, WALK and TALK.

Local supporter Eesa Raja raised £1,090 after taking part in an Ultra MMA event, while Thomas Durkin completed the Manchester Marathon in four hours and 20 minutes, raising a further £514 for the cause.

As a self-funded community group, Men Talk relies on donations and fundraising to continue offering free support sessions within the community.

The evening also included a thank you to Hodge House Community Centre for providing food for attendees during the session.

Founder Maj Mahmood said: “We are incredibly grateful to Eesa and Tom for their dedication and generosity. Their fundraising efforts will make a real difference to our group and the people we support every week. Community support like this allows Men Talk and WALK and TALK to continue creating safe spaces where men can come together, speak openly, and know they are not alone.”

Men Talk says it continues to welcome new members and supporters as it works to improve mental health awareness, reduce isolation and strengthen community connections across Colne.
