Burnley fans raise thousands for food bank in Sky pay-per-view protest
Burnley fans boycotting today's Sky PPV game against West Brom are instead donating the £14.95 match fee to the town's food bank.
Burnley FC in the Community, who run the Community Kitchen food bank located in Charter Walk, has seen a deluge of online donations come in during the past few days from a number of kind-hearted Clarets supporters.
Supporters shut out from grounds due to coronavirus now have the option to pay £14.95 to watch each Premier League game not originally scheduled to be shown live on BT Sport, Sky Sports or Amazon Prime.
The charge has come in for heavy criticism with a number of supporter groups encouraging fans to spend the money "helping those in need rather than lining Premier League pockets".
And generous Burnley fans have done just that; donating in their droves at a time when Covid-19 has seen demand for the food bank increase significantly.
