The money has been raised by selling tickets priced at just £1 each to hospice supporters throughout the summer months.

The car was purchased this year by Alderson and Horan Funeral Service, Charter Walk Shopping Centre, John Macadam Garages, Burnley and Pendle Freemasons and Santa’s Pizza and supplied by Hippo Motor Group.

Their support means that the costs of the car are covered and every pound spent on tickets goes directly towards patient care.

The lucky winner was Jennifer Beckwith of Earby who decided to take the £8,000 cash alternative option and the car was sold back to Hippo.

Hospice fund-raising manager Mrs Kaye Bartle said: “The car raffle is really popular each year as someone does genuinely win a car for just £1 and all the proceeds from this campaign helps local people in our community during a very difficult time in their life.

“We really are very grateful to all the car sponsors for their support and to everyone who bought a ticket.”
