The money will pay for warmth interventions such as servicing, repairing and replacing boilers and heating systems; loft and cavity wall insulation and glazing improvements.

Pendle residents may be eligible for a grant if they are a homeowner on a low income and suffer from health vulnerabilities, which include having cardiovascular and respiratory conditions, being diagnosed as disabled, aged over 65, pregnant or suffering from a mental health condition.

Councillor Asjad Mahmood, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “We have been allocated this funding to help those most at risk from cold and damp homes. Now is the time when people will start to feel the cold and worry about being able to keep themselves and their families warm over the coming months.

“These grants are available for warmth improvements, such as servicing, repairing and replacing boilers and heating systems; loft and cavity wall insulation and glazing upgrades - and I hope those eligible will take advantage of them.”

Councillor Mohammed Ammer, the Council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing, Corporate and Performance, added: "The Affordable Warmth Lancashire Fund aims to reduce levels of ill health over the winter months and improve people's wellbeing through affordable warmth interventions.

"Cold damp homes, particularly in winter, have numerous direct and indirect impacts on people's health and consequently on health and social care services.”
