Why I wear my poppy with pride

On a personal note, I wear my poppy as an act of respectful remembrance for all the men and women who gave their lives serving in the British Armed Forces including my father who served in the Royal Air Force.

I am very proud to be British and appreciate the freedoms we enjoy in Britain and I never take them for granted.

When I wear my poppy it is also a gesture of thanks to soldiers past and present.

I hope that when we remember the loss of life and the suffering, it encourages us all to continually work for peace.

We at Burnley Council are committed to doing all we can to help former service people and I urge everyone to support The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
