Militaria expert joins Silverwoods specialist team

Joining local auction house Silverwoods team of valuers and auctioneers is renowned Militaria expert, James Thompson.

After a career with HM Forces, James now specialises in valuing and appraising a wide range of military-related antiques and collectable items, including war and gallantry medals, memorabilia from local regiments, uniforms, “trench art” and antique weaponry.Silverwoods has also announced a new appointments system for specialist and large collections. Appointments can be made with experts at the saleroom on Fridays between 10 am and 4 pm for potentially valuable collections of glass, ceramics, jewellery, militaria, books, wines and spirits, stamps, coins, furniture, precious metals, clocks and paintings among many others.Senior auctioneer, Wilf Mould said: “Every Monday customers bring items in for free, no obligation valuation, assessment and sale by the team. Now customers with more specialist items will be able to arrange private appointments with one of our experts on Fridays.” The next Antiques and Fine Art sale takes place on Thursday, October 27th and features a special selection of Militaria, bidding for which will be live on the internet for keen collectors worldwide.
