This year’s fete, which will be held from 12 to 4 pm on the village green opposite the Stork Hotel public house, will be raising money for Asthma UK, Parkinson’s and MacMillian Cancer Support.

The main sponsor for a second year running will be Blackburn-based Presspart Manufacturing, a leading supplier of respiratory drug delivery components.

Organisers are expecting hundreds of people to attend the show and be entertained throughout the day by performances from Burnley Alliance Silver Band, Northern Dance Group and village band Fisher-T-Fish. There will also be cake stalls, the Thwaites shire horses, a Punch and Judy show, a bouncy castle, swing boats and much more.

Well known Read resident, Mr Tim Booth, will also be running his own village marathon on the day to help raise money for the charities. Tim will be setting off in the morning from the Stork Hotel then heading to the Stirk House Hotel at Gisburn and then back to the Stork Hotel where there will be a well earned pint waiting for him and hopefully a lot of supporters cheering him on.

Organisers are hoping to beat the £3,500 raised last year for MacMillian Cancer Support and Asthma UK so why not bring your family down for the afternoon and join in the fun on what should be a brilliant day, and hopeful raise lots of money for three worthwhile charities.

The organisers would also like to thank the other sponsors of this year’s event including Bridge Heywood Caravan Park, Fort Vale, What More UK, Kirk Properties LTD, Stork Hotel, Thwaites and Portal Medical LTD.
