Major road re-opened in Ribble Valley hours after discovery of man's body on carriageway

A major road in the Ribble Valley, which was closed earlier today after a man's body was discovered on the carriageway, has now been re-opened.

Police closed the A59 at Chatburn after the tragic discovery.

Emergency services attended the scene and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

A spokesman for Ribble Valley Police said: "The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed to the coroner.

"Our thoughts are with the man's family at this sad and difficult time."
