Downtown chairman Frank McKenna said he was keen for Mr Miliband to see the quality and variety of Lancashire’s business offering first-hand.

“We are delighted Mr Miliband has asked us to arrange this event,” Frank said. “We are always looking for opportunities for our members to influence and talk to key decision makers and it is great the Leader of the Opposition has taken time out of his busy schedule to be with us.

“Lancashire’s business community has so much to offer and it is fantastic for us to be able to share that with such a senior politician.”

Mr Miliband went to Chorley and Labour’s regional conference in Blackpool after his visit to Daisy.
