Clitheroe doctor welcomes new clinical lead role

A new clinical lead for Ribblesdale has been appointed following the retirement of GP Dr Ian Whyte.

Dr Vanessa Warren, a GP at Pendleside Medical Practice, Clitheroe, has been selected to lead the locality and sit on the Governing Body at NHS East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

The Governing Body is responsible for reviewing decisions and formally approving all the plans for the CCG. Governing Body members use their knowledge and experience to ensure the services the CCG buy are clinically-focused and patient-centred.

After qualifying in Liverpool in 1992, Dr Warren, originally from Cumbria, became a GP in West Yorkshire before settling in Clitheroe where she has been a partner, and GP trainer, at the practice for 12 years.

Her passion for providing the best patient care benefits not only the patients in the Ribblesdale locality, but across East Lancashire.

She said: “I am delighted to be given the opportunity of this new role and using my knowledge and experience to offer patients the best healthcare services possible.

“I am looking forward to working with my GP colleagues, as well as other partners across the NHS and social care, and continuing the excellent work that has already been done by Dr Whyte over the last three years.”
