Burnley Twinning Association enjoys Paris visit with French hosts
The Burnley Twinning Association has strengthened ties with its French counterpart, the town of Vitry-sur-Seine, through a recent visit to Paris, where they enjoyed walks along the canals and a visit to a Japanese garden.
Walks along the canals of Paris were enjoyed by member of the Burnley Twinning Association during a visit to Vitry-sur-Seine.
The French hosts welcomed the Burnley visitors, who also got the opportunity to visit a Japanese garden while on a circular walk from the Rueil-Malmaison.
One of the wealthiest suburbs of Paris Rueil-Malmaison t is best known for its Château de Malmaison, which served as the headquarters of the French government from 1800 to 1802 and Napoleon's last residence in France at the end of the Hundred Days in 1815.
Burnley has been twinned with the French town of Vitry-sur-Seine, which lies six miles south east of Paris, for more than 60 years. The aim of the project is to promote closer understanding and encourage links between the organisations and inhabitants of the towns.

Regular exchange visits take place and members hold enjoyable social and fundraising activities throughout the year.
New members are always welcome including individuals, groups and schools. Anyone who would like more information is asked to email Janet Elliott at [email protected].
