Members hosted a visit from a group of visitors from Vitry sur Seine in June. The delegation spent several days strengthening the friendship links that have connected the two towns for decades. The visit included cultural outings, shared meals, and opportunities to experience

everyday life in the town.

Highlights included a cream tea at the Hapton Inn to welcome the french visitors and tours of Helmshore Mill and Haworth Art Gallery in Accrington. The visitors also got the chance to explore both the Anglican and Catholic cathedrals on a day trip to Liverpool, with the chance to have lunch on the celebrated cultural thoroughfare known as Hope Street.

The visit concluded with renewed commitments to continue exchanges between the two communities, with plans already being discussed for future cultural and educational activities. New members are always welcome and anyone who would like more information is asked to email Janet Elliott at [email protected].
