Nursery's natural resources

Nursery school children have been learning about nature in their exciting 'Forest School'.

The children at Ightenhill Nursery School take part in weekly Forest School sessions where they are inspired and encouraged through positive outdoor experiences.

The nursery recently held an open day and invited past, present and prospective parents and children to attend.

Nicola Daniels-Green, headteacher, said: “The sessions develop confidence, self-esteem and children gain skills through hands on learning experience in a natural environment.

“Parents were invited to attend a session to find out what their children had been learning in Forest School. Some of the activities included carving pumpkins, toasting marshmallows, making friendship bracelets and lots of exploring and fun learning.”

The Nursery School has lowered the school age range, so no longer has a private setting on site.

All provision is now fully integrated into the nursery school and under the responsibility of the governing body and managed by the headteacher.

Nicola added: “I would like to thank everyone who came to support us. It was lovely to see so many past, current and prospective pupils and parents.

“Thank you also to the wonderful staff who gave up their Saturday morning and to the governors who attended. It was also lovely to see families and friends of the nursery staff.”
