Glowing SIAMS report recognises strengths of Padiham St Leonard’s
Padiham St Leonard’s CE Primary School is celebrating after receiving glowing feedback following its recent Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools.
Inspectors praised the school’s “welcoming and vibrant learning environment”, highlighting the deeply embedded Christian vision that underpins every aspect of school life, from teaching and learning to relationships, behaviour and wellbeing.
The report recognised the school’s strong values, known collectively as ‘FRUITS’, which are understood and embraced by both pupils and staff. Inspectors found these values help shape a culture of kindness, respect and aspiration throughout the school community.
The inspection took place just three weeks after new headteacher Chris Taylor took up his post on April 13th.

Mr Taylor said: “I am incredibly proud of the pupils and staff at St Leonard’s, and it is a delight that the inclusive, welcoming culture of our school has been recognised.
“I have only been headteacher here since April and SIAMS visited during my third week in post, so this report is particularly pleasing. Credit must also go to our outgoing headteacher, Mrs Holmes, whose dedication and hard work over many years helped prepare the school for this inspection and laid the foundations for this success.”
Inspectors highlighted the school’s commitment to inclusion, noting that pupils of all abilities, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, are fully involved in school life. Staff were praised for going “the extra mile” to ensure children receive the support they need to flourish both academically and personally.
The report also commended the school’s broad and ambitious curriculum, which provides pupils with a wide range of experiences beyond the classroom. Educational visits, cultural opportunities, performances and extracurricular activities were all recognised as helping pupils develop confidence, curiosity and an appreciation of the wider world.
Collective worship was described as a significant and valued part of daily life, while inspectors praised the strong sense of community and the school’s commitment to supporting the wellbeing of pupils, families and staff.
Religious Education was also highlighted as a particular strength, with inspectors recognising the subject’s high profile within the school.
Padiham St Leonard’s currently has places available in both its Nursery and Reception classes for September. Parents interested in arranging a visit or securing a place are invited to contact the school on 01282 771470.
