The property is being comprehensively remodelled to accommodate account holder facilities, office space and meeting rooms. Externally, a redesigned frontage is beginning to emerge as part of works agreed under conservation area guidelines.
Northern Community Bank is a not-for-profit financial co-operative and ethical lender, owned by its account holders rather than shareholders. The move to Manchester Road marks a significant step in the organisation's continued growth following its rebrand from Pennine Community Credit Union and its expansion beyond East Lancashire.
CEO Kathryn Fogg said: “We are pleased to see the foundations of an exciting new chapter in Northern Community Bank’s 43-year history. This is going to be a welcoming, purpose-built hub, where new or existing account holders can manage their money.”
Once finished, the community bank’s team will transfer operations from just around the corner in St James’ Street. Its Colne branch will continue operating as normal.
