East Lancashire Business Environment Awards: Green awards open to businesses across the North West


The Lancashire Business Environment Awards 2023 is being organised by Chamber low Carbon, in partnership with East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, BOOST, North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce and Business Wise Solutions.
These awards are designed to recognise and reward those businesses that are working towards a greener, sustainable and prosperous future. Entries will be judged in advance of the ceremony by the Chamber Low Carbon team, with ratification from an independent sustainability consultant.
The award categories are:


– Innovation Award – Individuals and organisations within Lancashire can apply for this category which will judge products that have been designed, produced and marketed that have had a positive impact on the environment.
– Public Sector Award – This category will highlight projects which have been instigated by a public sector organisation or department to reduce their carbon footprint and/or enhance sustainability across the organisation.
– Sustainable Social Enterprise Award: Social enterprises, charities and non-Government organisations are invited to enter this award, which can show they have embedded sustainability within their organisation and reduced the impact they have on the environment.
– Circular Economy Award – This award can be entered by all organisations, SMEs, charitable, social and third sector organisations as well as large companies and public sector organisations based within Lancashire. Judges will look at the circular economy vision and how the company reuses and recycles and cuts down on waste.
– Community Engagement Award - This award is for mainstream businesses who demonstrate they bring benefits to the communities where they operate by meeting the social and economic needs of its residents without compromising their environmental responsibilities.
– Net Zero Award – How do you balance the demands of people, planet and profit? Those SMEs across Lancashire that impress the judges with their efforts to do just that, could be in with a chance of scooping this award.
– Energy Efficiency Award – Being energy efficient is vital to cut costs, pollution and save resources. SMEs which can show they have planned and integrated energy efficient measures in their workplace, and working practices could shine here. If they can demonstrate they have reduced their environmental impact through improved energy efficiencies they should apply.
– Green Champion Award – This award will recognise those individuals who go above and beyond. If your organisation has a team member who has given an outstanding contribution to the environmental and sustainable performance of the organisation, this could be the award for them.
How to apply
Applications for awards close on May 14 and the awards lunch will be held on Wednesday June 21 at Crow Wood Hotel. The awards ceremony will be a fully funded event and attendance will be by invitation or application only.
Applicants do not need to have attended the Chamber Low Carbon programme in order to apply. For more details click here.
