A number of free health walks are being held in the Burnley area.

These volunteer-led walks are part of the national Walking for Health scheme and are run by Up and Active team and a group of local volunteers.

The hour-long walks have been organised for local people who would like to get back into a regular habit of social activity, or who would just like to discover new paths and routes in their local area.

Every Monday, rain or shine, Kirsty’s Walk led by volunteer Kirsty starts at 10am from Parkside Surgery. The meeting point is outside the surgery located behind the Prestige building in Colne Road.

Bob’s Walk takes place every Tuesday at 10am from St Peter’s Leisure Centre. The group meets outside the ground floor pharmacy inside the centre.

If you fancy a stroll around Burnley’s award-winning parks and green spaces then join volunteer Malcom every Thursday at 10am outside Yorkshire Street Medical Centre.

Jane Ingham, Up and Active champion, said: “These health walks are free and open to anyone who wants to take their first steps towards more active and healthier lifestyles. No special clothing is necessary, just a pair of comfy shoes.”
