Ex-football star Clarke Carlisle welcomes baby daughter

The troubled star's wife Carrie, shared the good news with fans on social media earlier this morning.

Baby Beau Angel Carlisle was reported to have been born at Royal Preston Hospital weighing six pounds and 12 ounces following a dramatic entry with her cord wrapped around her neck.

Carlisle appeared overjoyed at the baby girl's arrival in images shared to social media.

The father-of-four remarried earlier this year and has been working to raise awareness of mental health issues after a public battle with depression.

In September Carlisle was reported missing by his wife who took to Twitter with a desperate appeal to find her husband.

He was later found in Liverpool and admitted to hospital for treatment.

The former defender had previously attempted to take his own life in December 2014 while suffering from depression.

Carlisle made more than 500 appearances for nine clubs during his playing career.
