A swirl of talent wowed audiences at the Spotlight on Schools Final when pupils attending Blessed Trinity RC College won tickets to see play Thisbe.

After performing two short pieces to a packed Burnley Youth Theatre, the school’s Drama Academy was voted in as the winners of the audience prize.

“The overall talent in the show was of a really high standard,” said BYT Community Fund-raiser Molly Ralphson.

“The young people in the contest were extremely professional and the judges had a really difficult job choosing the winner.

“Blessed Trinity had three acts in the final: the Drama Academy; a dance duo, who were extremely energetic and well-coordinated; and the Dance Academy, who entertained the audience with their wonderful dance pieces.

The school obviously places the arts highly and this was reflected in the amount of talent they had in the show.”

Pupils from both Unity College, Burnley, and Colne Primet Academy also impressed judges to make it to the finals.

The competition was open to all high schools in Burnley, Pendle and Hyndburn and will be running again in the next academic year.
