Burnley festival Drop the Beat raises £1,000 for Pendleside Hospice

Burnley festival Drop the Beat made a special comeback over the Bank Holiday weekend, raising £1,000 for Pendleside Hospice.

Founded more than a decade ago by Craig Kennedy and Madge Nawaz, the festival brought DJs and supporters together at Penny Black on Sunday for a one-off all-day fundraiser.

The event brought in just short of £1,000, with Craig and Madge rounding the total up to £1,000.

Madge said: “It was great to see so many people come out and support us and, more importantly, support such a brilliant local cause.

“There was so much going on across the area over the Bank Holiday weekend and lots of other great events people could have gone to, so we really appreciated everyone who chose to come down and be part of it. A big ‘thank you’ as well to Lancashire PA for donating the PA.

“The support we’ve had throughout all the fundraising has been fantastic and to add another £1,000 to the total through Drop the Beat means a lot.”

Craig added: “It was brilliant to bring Drop the Beat back and see so many familiar faces there enjoying the music again.

“We had a great line-up and everyone who took part gave their time to help us raise as much as possible for Pendleside.

“It was only ever going to be a special one-off event, so it was great to see people come together and make it such a successful day.”

The money will add to Madge’s ongoing fundraising for Pendleside Hospice ahead of his appearance in the charity’s Strictly Come Dancing event later this year.
