The club was nominated for the Community and Parks award at the Tennis Lancashire Awards, which was conducted online due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The awards are presented each year, with coaches, volunteers, clubs and other tennis venues being nominated by individuals across the county and then decided by the awards committee of Tennis Lancashire.

In 2016, the club was named the LTA British Tennis Club of the Year and this recognition means the club will go forward to the national awards later this year.

Club secretary Jez Palmer said: “This a brilliant achievement for the club and I would just like to thank all our members.”

The club is situated just off Belvedere Road and boasts six all-weather courts, with three of them floodlit. Over the past month, members of the club’s committee have been preparing the club for it reopening on March 29 when lockdown restrictions will be lifted.
