Tasker misses out on World Cup Final

Despite a promising start to qualifying, when he clocked a time of 2:03.97 in the pool, the 22-year-old struggled to make an impact in the fencing salle.

He claimed nine victories, and headed into the final event of the day in 32nd place.

A solid run-shoot saw him move up to 30th in the final table.

Great Britain teammates Sam Curry and Tom Toolis qualified, as Britain saw three athletes compete in the individual finals, along with Francesca Summers in the women’s final.

Curry, 22, was eighth in qualification Group B, and 28th in the final, while Toolis, in Group C, qualified in 12th and finished 33rd in the final. Summers was third in qualification Group C, and 22nd in the final.

The series resumes with World Cup 2 in Rio de Janeiro (March 7th-13th), which will double as an official Test Event for the 2016 Olympics, for which Clitheroe’s Samantha Murray has already qualified.
