250 ex-pupils to perform in ‘Just One World’
“Just One World” will include some of the most popular songs from the environmental musicals presented by St Augustine’s RC High School in Billington, and written by former music teacher Peter Rose and lyricist Anne Conlon, ex English teacher at SS John & Thomas More School, Colne.
The gala charity concert is part of a weekend of celebrations to mark the school’s 50th anniversary.

Hide AdMr Rose, who is now director of Lochaber Music School in Fort William said: “For the last few months, former pupils - including many who haven’t sung much for 30 years - have been exercising their vocal cords to deliver yet another moving and memorable performance. We’re going to have an amazing time, meet old friends, relive some wonderful memories, and we want to share that with as many people as possible.”
The concert, for Cafod, will raise funds for a project to provide water for a community in Sebeya, Ethiopia.
All those taking part were involved in the school’s original performances of Yanomamo, African Jigsaw, Ocean World, Arabica, Song of Creation and One Sun One World, musicals commissioned by the World Wide Fund for Nature which have now been sung by thousands of children throughout the world.
Tickets cost £10 (concessions £8) from King Georgeʼs Hall, Blackburn. Donations can be made to www.justgiving.com/just1world
