The 30-year-old has won the Lancashire League twice with the West Enders, also playing on a couple of occasions in 2014 when the club added another title, and has triumphed in the Worsley Cup and Twenty20.

The former Liverpool Road professional, who played First Class cricket for Free State and North West in his homeland, has scored 2,165 runs for Lowerhouse from 71 innings and is desperate to fire them to further success.

“There’s no reason why we can’t be successful,” he said. “We’ve got a very good side here with some very good amateur players and a top professional.

“Sometimes you need the luck of the draw, you need half chances to go your way, because it’ll be tricky this year with the league’s new format.

“I definitely think we’ve got a great chance in the Worsley Cup. We just have to try and get in to the final and take it from there.

“It’s always great to win trophies. I wouldn’t have come back if I didn’t have the ambition of winning something with Lowerhouse.

“I have a great affinity with the cricket club but I also came back to win things.”

Haasbroek, who has an unbeaten high score of 131 for the club, was 118 not out against Colne at the weekend as ‘House kept the pressure on leaders Walsden.

He put on 145 runs for the third wicket alongside professional Ockert Erasmus as they won by 239 runs at the Horsfield.

Haasbroek said: “It’s been good. I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s a bit different because there’s a few new members within the league but it’s good to be playing cricket again.”
