Sports stars in Clitheroe for Marina Dalglish charity golf day

sporting celebrities will gather at Clitheroe Golf Club to tee-off in the annual Marina Dalglish Appeal Golf Day.

Since it began in 2008, the event has gone from strength to strength, raising more than £75,000 for the appeal, which helps cancer sufferers across the North West.

Every year, tremendous support has been received from a host of celebrities including Kenny Dalglish, Chris Kamara, David Dunn, Dean Windass, Craig Hignett, Gary McAllister, and Nicky Summerbee, who play golf and then enjoy dinner and an evening of fun with their teams.

This year’s event will take place on Tuesday. Sponsors include Clayton Park Pies, Humberstones Watch and Diamond Gallery and Morrisons.

The Marina Dalglish Appeal has already raised in excess of £2m., which has helped to build the Centre for Oncology at Aintree Hospital, Liverpool. The charity was started after Marina, wife of ex-Blackburn Rovers manager and football legend Kenny Dalglish, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in March 2003.

The golf day gives businesses and individuals the opportunity to play alongside sporting legends, whilst raising money for an extremely worthwhile cause. The day will be covered by Sky Sports, who have broadcast in previous years live from Clitheroe Golf Club on the Sky Sports News Channel.

Spectators are welcome from noon. Please call 01200 426600 for more details.
