Former captain’s victory at Colne Golf Club
The golf was followed by a presentation meal, with over 40 past and current lady members present.
Among the guests was Jean Stocks, who donated the Lady Captain’s Trophy in 1994 to the then-Lady Captain Anne Bradbury.

Hide AdIronically Anne, back after injury, won the 2012 Lady Captain’s prize with a score of 82-14-68, which reduced her handicap to 12. She was presented with the trophy once again by Jean Stocks.
Second place went to Lady Vice Captain Anne Black, whose score of 81-12-69 reduced her handicap to 11.
Again in the placings, Irene Lonsdale, whose score of 95-21-74 gave her the third place prize.
Anne Bradbury also picked up the nearest the pin on the 5th - her shot being only two feet away from the pin, with Sandra Harris getting closest to the line on the 12th.

Ladies from Colne competed for the EWGA Medal, with great scores reflecting the excellent conditions of the course.
Winner on the day was Tina Fishwick with a score of 91-23-68, which also reduced her handicap by two shots.

Hide AdJoan Finley and Eva Pinder both played to their handicaps, but Joan’s 96-24-72 gave her second beating Eva’s 92-20-72 on a card play-off.
Still at Colne, the summer league was played on Monday nights from the beginning of May to mid-August on a fourball matchplay basis, and approximately 20 pairings participated.
The overall winners were Steve Birt and Vice Captain Steve Barnes, from Chris Williamson and Nick Gornall, with Jason Lancaster and Ryan Proctor third.
During the season a stableford competition was held, and the winners were Geoff Hurlstone and Phil Vernon.

Hide AdSteve Parker will be holding his Captain’s Day tomorrow, weather permitting.
However he did hold the Captain’s Mixed Greensome last Sunday, won by Howard and Marie Lonsdale (66.4), from mother and son Bev and Thomas Wellock (66.6), and Anne and David Black (67.8).
The recent men’s invitation was won by Ryan Proctor and Dave Dalby (Ghyll) with 42 points, with John Burgoyne and David Black second with 39 points, one ahead of Mick Turner and Paul Brozowski (Marsden Park).
The JJ Duckworth Trophy, played on Saturday, was another low-scoring event where the winner was decided on countback.

Hide AdIt was another good week for the Proctors - Ryan won last week and father Howard this week!
Howard Proctor won with (79-16-63) from Dave Kitson (77-14-63) and Chris Heap (85-18-67).
The gross prize went to Paul Boothman.
• AT Nelson, it was a fine day for Yuk Yui, who has been disqualified twice previously with winning cards incorrectly recorded!
She won the Professional’s Prize with a round of 87-16-71, one clear of Carol Jeffrey (96-24-72) whose back nine of 33 gave her second ahead of Sophie Potter (83-11-72, 33.5 back nine).

Hide AdAnn Wardley was fourth, again on the back nine (90-18-72, 34 back nine).
Last Thursday saw the Cystic Fibrosis Trophy, and with a truly wonderful round, past Lady Captain Pauline Burrows won hands down, earning herself a three-shot handicap reduction, bringing her to her lowest handicap ever.
She shot 88-23-65 to beat Sophie Potter (83-11-72, one shot handicap reduction, 34.5 back nine) and Sandra Driver (89-17-72, one shot handicap reduction, 35.5 back nine).
This was also the second round of the Woodward Trophy.
First was Stella Newton (69+76=145), ahead of Pauline Burrows (81+65=146) and Barbara Hargreaves (80+76=156).

Hide AdThe juniors played for the President’s Prize, won by Ben Uttley (99-36-63) from new member Marley Byrne (102-34-68), who was second on the card from James Wright (84-16-68).
Best gross was Ben Ross’ 74.
Nelson won the latest round of the Leader-Times Pendle Junior Summer League at Marsden Park with 185 points, ahead of Burnley (175), Marsden Park (165), Ghyll (159) and Colne (137).
And Joe Flannagan is into the quarter-final of the Blackburn and Darwen Inter-Club Knockout Singles after beating Jack Mercer of Clitheroe 2 up.
• AT Marsden Park this week, all three trophies were kindly sponsored by local Engineering Company - Straightline Engineering Ltd, on what turned out to be a very pleasant day .

Hide AdThe overall men’s winner was Michael Brandwood with 40 points, after a card play-off.
The 0-11 category was won by Sean Flanagan (38 points), again after cards, from Stuart Buckley and Nathan Lingard, who had the best gross of 70.
In the 12-17 category, Tim Buckel won with 40 points, with Ernie Buksh (38 points) second after cards from Richard Walton.
The 18-28 category was topped by Gareth Collins (39 points) on the card from John Catlow and James McLeod.

Hide AdFor the ladies, Janet Kelly’s 35 points took first prize from Margaret Frankland (33 points), who was second on the card from Lady Vice Captain Michelle Lingard.
Junior winner was Jake Proctor (30 points).
• THE Ouzledale Trophy AM-AM at Ghyll attracted many entries from all over the north.
It was won by the Marbil Marauders, which comprised of Andrew Wray, Martin Robinson, Brent Noble and Mark Hargreaves. They scored 103 points, which was one more than Steve Mortimer Snr, John Riley, Steve Mortimer Jnr and Jack Farnhill.
In third place with 101 points, was the team of Geoff Smith, Sean Nutter, Graham Tibbot and John Blackmore.
