Young Clarets are Lancashire champions

FC Clarets Under-12s are the Lancashire champions after enjoying at terrific 3-0 victory over Lytham at the County Ground in Leyland.

In a final carried over from last season due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Clarets were simply too strong for their Fylde coast opponents, who are managed by former Everton, Blackpool and Fleetwood Town midfielder Jamie Milligan.

To get through to the showpiece match, the youngsters had already beaten strong opposition in the shape of Blackburn Eagles, Crooklands Casuals Storeys of Lancaster, Cadley, Lancaster City Youth and Radcliffe Borough Juniors.

Lytham also proved to be very capable opposition but the Clarets dominated the first half but only went into the break with a 1-0 lead after several missed chances. The first half goal was scored by Jacob Bentley assisted by Isaac Smith.

Lytham came into the game more but fell further goal behind to an own goal. The third goal was scored by Smith who tapped home at the back post after a corner from Harry Smith. Man of the match was Max Carrington who was simply outstanding at the centre of defence.
