Keane’s 64th minute goal which put PNE ahead at Turf Moor, was his first in the Championship since joining on loan from Manchester United in the summer.

Daniel Johnson netted late on in the clash to give North End a 2-0 win – their first at Turf Moor for eight years.

It was a family affair on the pitch as striker Keane went head-to-head with his sibling who was at the heart of the Burnley defence.

Off the pitch, most of the Keane family were dotted around the ground to watch the brothers do battle.

Keane told the Evening Post: “We were both desperate to win and I’m sure Michael hated losing.

“All the family were there, half were in the Preston end and some were in the players lounge – I saw my mum cheering at the end!

“On a personal note I was really glad to get the goal to help the team win.”
