Was Ashley Barnes' substitute cameo against Wolves a farewell to Burnley?
Ashley Barnes appeared to be saying his goodbyes when he was given a rare Premier League outing for Burnley on the final day.
The veteran striker was an 84th minute replacement for Zian Flemming during Burnley’s 1-1 draw against Wolves on Sunday.
It was the 36-year-old’s first Premier League appearance since March and only his seventh of the season.
Coming on the final day, and with the Clarets legend out of contract this summer, it appeared to be one final hurrah.
Interim boss Mike Jackson, however, was unable to confirm or deny what the future holds for Barnes.
When asked if it was Barnes’ last appearance for Burnley, Jackson said: “I don't know that. I just wanted to get him on the pitch today, but what happens either way, I think he deserves that respect to be able to do what he's been for the club.”

In a separate interview with radio outlets, Jackson said: “I wanted to put him in the squad, just out of respect to him and what’s going on with his contract situation.
"It wasn’t like a sympathy vote for him, I wanted him to be on the bench and be part of us and what he can bring us as well.”
Despite his minimal minutes on the pitch, Barnes was still involved in plenty of action.
The striker almost secured a dream ending when he tried to force the ball home at the back post, after being teed up by Marcus Edwards’ teasing cross, only to be denied by the keeper.
He was then involved in a confrontation with Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera, who threw himself to the floor in dramatic fashion complaining of an alleged elbow.
“He came on, he does what Barnsley does, he gets involved in the scrap and winds people up,” Jackson said.
"Then at the end he can go and score, but no, he's been brilliant for the club and I wanted to get him on the pitch today.”
