Wallace relieved at dramatic leveller
Ross Wallace relived his exquisite free-kick in the aftermath of a dramatic 2-2 draw against Leicester City.
The winger, introduced as a 79th minute substitute at the expense of Michael Kightly, beat Kasper Schmeichel from 20 yards deep in to time added on at the King Power Stadium after Scott Arfield was felled by Matty James.
The 29-year-old Scot, who last netted competitively in a 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City at Turf Moor in January 2013, said: “There was nobody getting it, he said. “Tripps was off the park as well so he wasn’t getting it. It was the perfect spot for me and luckily enough Schmeichel gave me a lot of room to hit.
“I managed to get it up and over the wall. It was pretty good, one of the better ones. I knew where I was putting it as soon as I looked up and saw he was a yard or two off that left hand post. I knew if I got it on target and it was near enough in the corner it was going in.
“It was relief for me. It’s been a long year so it was good.”
