But there was less positive news where former Hammer Matthew Taylor was concerned with the midfielder requiring an operation to address his achilles injury.

Trippier was stretchered off in the 2-2 draw against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium before the international break having landed awkwardly on his ankle when challenged by Jeff Schlupp.

However, it appears the defender is in line to retain his place in the starting XI. “It’s been a good break in the sense that we’ve been missing some players that are important to us,” said Dyche. “It’s a good chance for them to get through injuries and become fit again. It brings the demand back to the squad and we hope it makes us stronger. Tripps has had a good couple of days this week so he comes back in to contention.”

Meanwhile, Taylor faces an extended spell on the sidelines having already missed games against Crystal Palace, Sunderland, West Brom and the Foxes. The 32-year-old, who was signed by Sam Allardyce for £2.2m in July 2011, is set to undergo surgery.

Matty Taylor is going to need a minor operation with his niggly achilles that hasn’t settled down,” stated Dyche. “It’s nothing too serious though in the grand scheme of things but it’s still something that’s niggling and irritating his achilles so that will need to be dealt with.”

On the remainder of his walking wounded Dyche added: “Ingsy has had a good week with us so he’s certainly in the thinking which we’re pleased about. He’s managed to get on the grass at the beginning of the week which is important because they can train with the group for a given period rather than throwing them in at the last minute. We thought it was important to give him a full week’s training.

“Dean Marney is touch and go so it may be too quick for him this one but he’s been active this week, Jonah will be fit, we’re pretty pleased with his comeback from injury so we’re fairly sure of his inclusion in the squad, Steven Reid has a minor groin injury, Chalobah is back in contention with the squad after getting a minor crack in his wind pipe, and Keano is a minor thing. We’ll see how he recovers.”
