Bale then grabbed his second of the afternoon with a sumptuous left-footed finish in the 55th minute.
Here are the RATINGS from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Lucas Moura then made it 3-0 before the break when Burnley failed to deal with Sergio Reguilon's delivery.

5. Ben Mee 3.7
Static for the opener after just 68 seconds. Never given the opportunity to settle. The high defensive line was exploited by Son, Moura and Bale, who continuously got in behind as Spurs carved the Clarets open.

6. Josh Brownhill 3.3
Far more effective in the middle of the park. Didn't do enough against the ball for the home side's first and failed to cut out Bale's diagonal for the second. Always struggled up against Reguilon.

7. Dwight McNeil 3.4
Didn't see enough of the winger, who let his frustration get the better of him far too often. Had success against Aurier in the past, but not on this occasion. Covered plenty of ground, but lacked end product in possession.

8. Ashley Westwood 4
Overrun and overworked from start to finish. Always provided an option for the player on the ball, but chasing shadows constantly, through no fault of his own. Outnumbered in the middle and Spurs picked them off.
