The last time the Clarets faced the U’s, the Kassam Stadium didn’t even exist – so Saturday’s encounter will be Burnley’s first trip to Oxford’s ground.
The last meeting came at the Manor Ground in April 2000 in front of a crowd of 7,549.
Stan Ternent’s men had to come from behind to win 2-1 after going a goal down in the 13th minute to Matt Murphy’s strike for the hosts.
But the Clarets struck twice in the final five minutes to complete a remarkable turnaround thanks to goals from Steve Davis and Paul Weller.
Here’s a look at the XI that took to the field that day:

5. Dean West
The full-back made over 150 appearances for the Clarets between 1999 and 2004 after making the move from Bury, before leaving to join Lincoln City. Upon retiring from football, West made the bold decision of venturing into business buying a children's nursery. Photo: Gary M. Prior

6. Lenny Johnrose
After spells with Blackburn and Preston at the start of his career, the defensive midfielder joined Burnley in 1999 in the first of three separate spells. After retiring, Johnrose became a teacher but in 2022, at the age of 52, he tragically passed away following a battle with motor neurone disease. Photo: Getty Images

7. Paul Cook
The Liverpudlian first spent time on loan with the Clarets in 1999 before making his move permanent, eventually making over 140 appearances across a four-year spell. Since finishing playing, Cook has managed the likes of Accrington, Portsmouth and Wigan, but is now in charge of League Two side Chesterfield. Photo: Ben Radford

8. Micky Mellon
The Scottish midfielder joined Burnley in 1999 from Tranmere Rovers, a side he went on to later manage. Mellon made 85 appearances for the Clarets, scoring five times before returning to Tranmere in 2001. His son Michael is now part of Burnley's academy side and is out on loan with Stockport County.
