5. Richard Chaplow
Sold by Burnley in January 2005, the midfielder went on to help West Bromwich Albion preserve their Premier League status in what had seemed like an impossible task. He only played four times at the back end of the Baggies' campaign, contributing to five important points against Charlton Athletic, Spurs and Blackburn Rovers. 6. Tyrone Mears
Mears didn't exactly have a hand in West Ham's revival in 2006-07, but the full back played a handful of games for the Hammers that season. The defender won just once in his five appearances for Alan Curbishley’s side before being shipped out on loan to Derby County in the Championship. Similarly to Mears, the Birmingham-born winger didn't really influence his side's Premier League renaissance, but he was still on the books. 8. Matthew Taylor
Taylor inadvertently played his part in Leicester City's recovery mission in 2014-15 when missing a penalty for the Clarets against the Foxes at Turf Moor, but he had a more positive impact when Portsmouth defied the odds to survive in 2005-06.
