Scott Parker issues classy message to Burnley fans following his departure

The Clarets are on the lookout for a new head coach after opting to part ways with Parker eight days on from confirmation of their relegation.

Gerrard had already been linked with the role prior to Parker’s departure, with reports suggesting he was in the frame should the club’s board opt to go in a different direction.

It’s no surprise then to see the Liverpool legend top the early betting, although the Burnley Express has been told these links are purely speculation at this juncture and no official talks have taken place at this stage.

Wales boss and former Burnley assistant Craig Bellamy, who was in the running last time before Parker’s appointment, is second favourite.

Vincent Kompany’s former two is well liked by Alan Pace, but reports suggest he’s enjoying his spell with the Wales national team and in no rush to depart.

High up in the betting are also the likes of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Liam Rosenior, while there’s the inevitable link to former boss Sean Dyche who remains out of work.

BBC Sport, meanwhile, suggest that “checks” have been made on Cardiff City boss Brian Barry-Murphy, who has led the Bluebirds to automatic promotion from League One this season. But he’s not currently in the betting.
