Ryan ready to get his career off the ground
The 20-year-old, who hails from Burnley, looks certain to start the season opener against Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium tomorrow in the absence of Tommy Lee, who has undergone surgery on his shoulder.
The Scotland Under 21 international, who played 13 times during a loan spell with Portsmouth last term, said: “It’s another step up and it’ll be a good test for me. It’s another step in the right direction and I’m looking forward to it. I wanted to keep playing first team football to get my career off the ground. “Tommy Lee is injured at the moment so as soon as he recovers that will be a good test. You need that competition to keep you on your toes.”
Fulton feels everything is in place at the Proact Stadium for the club to go on and do well: “Everything is great here - the staff and the lads have been really good,” he said. “There are some experienced players here as well so it should hopefully be a good season for us.”
Fulton, who teamed up with the squad for the pre-season tour of Hungary, added: “I want to do the best I can for myself and for Chesterfield. I want to impress, keep improving and see what that brings. I could get my chance at Liverpool or I might get another loan move.
“I just want to keep climbing and testing myself.”
