Robinson confident that the Clarets will stay up

Sean Dyche’s side are nine points clear of the top flight’s bottom three with 11 games remaining but haven’t won in their last four league outings.

Burnley travel to Anfield on Sunday to take on Liverpool in one of only four games to take place in the division this game week.

In the aftermath of the 3-2 defeat against Swansea City, asked whether the club can survive this term, the one-time England international said: “Without a shadow of a doubt. They’ve got more than enough to see the job through, on home form alone.

“We shouldn’t be relying on that but with the characters and the players we’ve got in there, and we’ve not played well at Swansea but still nearly got something out of the game.

“There’s a lot of heart, there’s a lot of desire and there’s a lot of will to win even when things aren’t going our way. You can see the lads live and die for the shirt out there.

“Of the teams I’ve been with there’s a lot more heart and desire in this dressing room and we’ll stay up this year.”

Burnley have had a lot of knocks on the road this year, taking two points from 13 fixtures while key decisions have also gone against them.

However, the 37-year-old stated that the Clarets will do whatever it takes to keep pushing on towards the 40-point mark.

“It’s been a thing for a while on the road with our away performances, we’ve been looking at them, but we’re still up there,” he said.

“We’re still nine points clear of the bottom three and we’re still grinding out performances, whether they’re immaculate performances or just a dig in like today when things aren’t going our way.

“Results fortunately enough have been going our way but we’ve got to look at moving upwards.

“We’re sitting in the mid-table and we can’t think ‘that’s it, we’re done now’, we need to push on again and we need to get above that 40 point mark and see where we can go because we’re a good enough team to do so.”
