The 43-year-old was asked about an array of topics as he gets to work at Gawthorpe in what he hopes will be a successful season in which the Clarets clinch an instant return to the top flight.
Here’s a selection of what Parker had to say:

5. Backroom staff
“I’ll probably revert back to the staff that were here at the football club. I’ve come to work with these staff. I’ve brought one member of staff with me in Jonathan Hill who has been with me since Spurs Under-18s, Fulham and Bournemouth. The rest are here to work with and we will try and be successful together.” Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard

6. Backing in the transfer market
“Yeah, there will be that support if needed and when. I’m sure there will be that support and I think that has been proven to be the case under this ownership with Vincent as well. I’m sure that will be the case.” Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard

7. What Parker learnt from his time out of the game
“A number of things really. The most important thing is just rationalising things a little bit in terms of understanding certain things, certain dynamics and how you structure things. There was a bit of that. I also spent some time working with some different coaches to see how they work and their processes. The main thing was just taking some air really, taking some oxygen to clear everything and spend some time with the family, getting ready for the position I’m in now.” Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard

8. Spending time with Thomas Tuchel
“I spent some time with Thomas Tuchel during that period, just speaking, chatting and watching him work. “The main thing is he was probably in the same position as I was, because I was only in a position for eight weeks when I lost my job at Brugge, having just had the disappointment of losing my job at Bournemouth as well. He put a bit of context and understanding on it, because he’s been in similar situations." Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard
