Pundit tips Burnley to suffer cup shock against Millwall to pile more pressure on Scott Parker
In the midst of a miserable winless run that has placed doubts over his future, the last thing Scott Parker needs is for Burnley to find themselves on the end of a cup shock.
But that’s what could happen this weekend when the Clarets take a brief break from league action to face Championship side Millwall in the FA Cup.
The Lions are flying high in the second tier though, sitting fifth under Alex Neil, and only three points adrift of the automatic promotion spots.
Burnley, meanwhile, look set for an immediate return to that level, sitting eight points off safety in the Premier League as a result of a 12-game winless run.
That’s piled on the pressure on Clarets boss Parker – and things could get even worse for him this weekend according to Sky Sports pundit Alan Smith.

“It wouldn’t help him if they lost here,” he told BestBettingSites.co.uk.

"Obviously it would be an upset of sorts but Millwall are riding quite high in the Championship and there might be a shock on the cards here.
"He hasn’t got enough quality, Scott Parker, to stay up. What are they now? Eight points adrift. So you can’t see them staying up.
“Who knows what the hierarchy thinks about it, but that would be a bit of a blow to lose to Millwall, but I think they might do. I think this might be one of the cup shocks. I’ve got it 2-1 to the away team.”
