New York Clarets win again
We recently featured the side, an Under 7s junior team named after the Clarets, who play their football in lower Manhattan, after enjoying a 5-0 win Liverpool.
And they have since gone on to beat Wolves 3-0, with a brace from Jack Stone, and one from Lyall Marino, before another 3-0 success against Sunderland, with Marino again on target, while Eli Lindenbaum scored twice.

New York native Nick Stone was inspired by the Clarets’ efforts in the Premier League last season, and explained why they took Burnley’s name: “The league co-ordinator gave me quite a few options for team names before the season began.
“But Burnley was the easy, natural choice. I wasn’t interested in an affiliation with the larger Premier League clubs because I didn’t want the kids to be focussed on pretending to be Sterling, Hazard or Rooney.
“Burnley FC embodies everything I wanted the team to strive for.

Nick added: “In my emails to the parents I’ve been giving some background on Burnley FC.
“It is very important to me that Burnley FC doesn’t just exist as some abstraction across the Atlantic, but rather as a team whose rich history can inspire us.”
